The Turlock Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a Potential Structure Fire in the 700 block of N. Golden State Blvd. just after 2:30 pm on 3/18/19.

Turlock City Firefighters arrived on scene of a pallet and baled cardboard stack
that was fully engulfed in flames behind the 99 Cent store. The fire was impinging on the main electrical panels to the building.

Turlock Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and made access to the roof to check for any extension. There was no extension to the roof and no damage done to the building.

Last night the Turlock Moose Lodge hosted an appreciation dinner and recognized the Turlock Fire Department's 2018 Firefighter of the Year - Captain Kevin Tidwell.

Captain Tidwell was hired as a Firefighter with the Turlock Fire Department in 2006 and promoted to Engineer in 2008. He promoted to his current rank of Captain in 2016 and assumed the additional assignment of Public Information Officer in that same year. Captain Tidwell has been an active member of the Turlock Fire Department throughout his tenure; from CPR instruction, arson investigation, and academy instructor, to involvement in many large department projects such as the new Live Fire Training facility. In addition to his position with Turlock Fire, Captain Tidwell is a registered State Fire Training Instructor who has taught throughout northern California and also a member of State Fire Training's curriculum cadre for live fire training.

Turlock Fire would like to thank Turlock Moose Lodge #1679 for their hospitality and their support.
