Water Sewer & Garbage Service
Municipal Services manages a variety of areas which are vital in maintaining a healthy, safe, clean, and thriving community. The department consists of four divisions: Regulatory Affairs, Water Quality Control, Utility Maintenance and Utility Billing. The department is staffed with 76 full-time employees and 10 part-time employees, who implement, deliver, operate, and maintain the City's infrastructure systems and facilities.

The City of Turlock contracts with Turlock Scavenger for the collection and disposal of solid waste. Turlock Scavenger provides three roll out containers to each resident of Turlock. A charcoal grey 32 gallon container for garbage, a blue 68 gallon container for co-mingled recyclables, and a green 95 gallon container for organic waste. Multiple unit residences receive one green 95 gallon garden refuse container for the complex. These containers are picked up once per week on assigned routes. Citizens are encouraged to embrace the "recycling habit" and actively participate in helping the City to meet its waste diversion goals.

To report a water, sewer or streets related emergency, call 209-668-5590 during business hours (Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm), or call 209-668-1200 during non-business hours. This is the Turlock Police Department Dispatch number and it is for emergency calls only.

One of the many pollutants that make their way into storm drain systems are pesticides. Some negative impacts associated with polluted storm water due to pesticides are injury to aquatic plants and animals, and restrictions on swimming, fishing and other recreational uses.
