City of Turlock Provides Update Following Utility Outage

Turlock, CA | May 15, 2026 — The City of Turlock is aware of a power outage that occurred earlier today after Race Communications, a telecommunications infrastructure company, struck a Turlock Irrigation District (TID) power line while conducting work near Palmer Avenue.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. and temporarily affected approximately 40 customers in the surrounding area, according to TID. TID crews responded quickly and began repairs shortly afterward. Power has since been restored to affected customers.

City staff remained in contact with TID throughout the incident and appreciated the swift response and coordination to help minimize service interruptions and restore power as efficiently and safely as possible.

"The City's primary concern is the safety of our residents and working with our utility partners to help maintain reliable service for the community," said Municipal Services Director Christopher Fisher. “We appreciate the quick response from TID crews and the coordination between agencies to address the situation and restore power safely."

The City will continue working collaboratively with utility providers and contractors to help minimize impacts to residents during ongoing infrastructure and construction projects throughout the community.
