Turlock Police Department Citizens Academy
The Turlock Police Department hosts a Citizens Police Academy classes twice a year. The program is designed to give the participants a working knowledge of the Turlock Police Department and the criminal justice system. The program consists of a series of eleven classes and discussions held once a week, on a designated evening typically from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. There is no cost to anyone who enrolls.
The classes will provide an in-depth view into various areas of law enforcement. It is an educational and informative program that gives citizens the opportunity to learn about the issues that effect law enforcement efforts in the City of Turlock, and how to develop a partnership with the police department. It is our goal that upon completion of the course, participants will enjoy a better understanding of what the police do and why, and experience improved communication and partnership between themselves and the police department.
Upon completion, graduates will receive a certificate of completion. In addition, graduates will be encouraged to apply to join the Turlock Volunteers in Police Service. Being a volunteer provides an opportunity for continued education in the field of law enforcement and other related areas and allows a more interactive association with the police department.
Each class consists of eleven evening sessions. There is limited space and registration is required. Please call the Crime Prevention Office at(209)656-3153.
