2010 CALIFORNIA CODES

Effective January 1, 2011, The City of Turlock will be enforcing the new 2010 California Codes

Effective January 1, 2011, all new one and two family dwellings will require installation of an automatic fire sprinkler system. Design plans and calculations will be required at the time of application submittal for the residence.

About the Building and Safety Division

The Building & Safety Division provides plan review & inspection services to enforce and protect the health and safety of the public through the effective administration of the state’s model codes. When plans are submitted, it is our responsibility to ensure that they meet minimum code compliance as directed by the current California Building, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, & Energy codes. Once your plans are reviewed and approved by our plan check team and other City divisions, our support staff will calculate the applicable fees and a building permit will be processed. A permit may be issued to the owner of the property, licensed contractor, or authorized agent, at which point construction may commence and inspection services can be requested. Our certified building inspectors will monitor your project (per your request) at various stages from start to finish. Once your project is complete, occupancy will be granted and /or completion noted. Our Services

In addition to performing plan reviews and building inspections, we provide a number of other valuable services. We offer knowledgeable customer service at our public counter, participate in the City’s predevelopment meeting process to educate the applicant of the necessary steps of approval for proposed projects, assist the Fire & Neighborhood Preservation Departments to reduce safety hazards on existing buildings, and respond to complaints for substandard and dangerous buildings.
